On the VAG engined vehicles it comes with the 8 or 10 pin oem pump connectors and appropriate map or maf sensor connectors. The photo above shows the 8pin oem connectors. Some VAGs have 10 so you'll need to check before ordering.
On other vehicles, eg Rovers & Freelander Mk1 xdi, it is connected using scotchloks or crimp terminals or by soldering. An optional harness is available for these models which enables easy removal and reconnecting once fitted to the engine loom.
Most other VP37 tuning products are less sophisticated than the Synergy VP and are either off (at idle) or fully on. Whereas the Synergy VP is progressive (does vary depending on make and model), utilising the maf or map signals for control. We call this 'progression' rather than the simple on/off 'activation' method used by other makes.
In addition we have the option of modifying the map or maf signal where relevant to further improve the performance.
On the Rover L series engine, we also regulate the map signal to enable the boost pressure to adjusted without triggering the ecu's cut out.
But please note, the module does not increase the boost pressure itself on any engine, but allows the owner to adjust the wastegate linkage or fit a boost control valve and thereby increase the boost. In most cases 2-3psi extra boost is safe and beneficial.
There are two controls as shown on the photo opposite. (you can see the 3 state of the art integrated circuits - one not yet fitted) and various other components that shows that this is not one of the infamous ebay 'resistor' mods!)
The rotary switch determines the start rpm and progression and the variable control adjusts the maximum power.
We tested this on a 1995 Golf 1.9l 90bhp and were impressed with the difference. More torque, better throttle response and overall better performance. In fact it kept up with an Astra cdti quite easily (probably a 1.7) and top gear performance caught out a Mondeo.
Currently being tested on a VAG 2.5tdi (in a Volvo 850) - very noticeable, especially at 60mph on the dual carriageway commented the owner. We still have a few more ideas up our sleeves to test....
